Why Join a Small Group?
Do any of the following apply to you?
- I would like to get to know people at church better
- I want to grow deeper in my spiritual life
- I am frustrated that I am not as mature spiritually as I should be
- I wish the church offered me something that would spur me on in my Bible studies
- I would like to learn how to study the Bible
- I have a hard time slowing life down enough so that I can have a personal devotion time.
If you've been concerned about any of these issues then we have a solution for you. At Crossroads we think of our Sunday morning worship times as the gathering of many Small Groups. It is in the Small Groups that we really get to know each other. It is in the Small Groups that we develop the closest friendships... Close enough to allow others to spur us on. The purpose of the Small Groups Ministry is that we would have a midweek group of friends who can pray for us and we can pray for them. In the Small Groups we learn to worship together, to pray for each other, and to study God’s Word together. It all takes place over a 1 ½ to 2 hour time together each week.
A typical Small Group session will begin with the time of worship. We will sing a song or two together and open our time together with prayer, worshiping and thanking God from his done in our lives. The worship time is followed by Bible study time. A section of the Bible or a book of the Bible is being studied by the group and will be talked about in detail for 45 to 50 minutes. The last half hour is dedicated to personal prayer and sharing. Many of the group’s breakup by gender so that the Small Groups are even smaller. It is here we get to know each other and learn to pray for some of our deepest needs.
